Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Swimming Carnival
Our sporting carnivals give every student a chance to join in, have fun, and learn useful life long skills. By taking part, students build confidence and learn to keep trying, even if things don’t go their way. They work together, cheer each other on, and make new friends, which helps everyone feel included. These events teach important lessons like teamwork, resilience, and good sportsmanship. Sporting carnivals are a great way for students to grow, feel proud of their efforts, and enjoy being active with others in a friendly and supportive school environment.

Stage 3 Excursion to Ballarat
We had a long and enjoyable first day of our Stage 3 excursion. We started our excursion with an exploration of Echuca Wharf and a trip on a paddle steamer up the Murray River. We then got back on the bus and travelled to Bendigo, where we went 61 meters down to explore the Deborah Gold Mine and had our first experience of gold panning. We experienced old-fashioned ten pin bowling, gold panning, candle making, tried the just-made raspberry drops at the confectionary center and went down a mine and heard the story of the discovery of the Welcome Nugget, still one of the largest gold nuggets ever discovered. The AURA light show at Sovereign Hill last night was amazing and was the best part of the excursion.
Stage 2 Excursion to Howman’s Gap
Students recently visited Howman’s Gap and enjoyed a range of exciting activities, including the Flying Fox, Adventure Course, Outdoor Wall, Ropes Course, Archery, and Orienteering. The trip helped build teamwork, confidence, and outdoor skills while providing a fun and memorable experience for all.
Maths Muster Day
Over the last 8 weeks a group of budding problem-solvers from Years 4 - 6 created some design solutions for current challenges that affect us. Some of the challenges that they set out to solve were litter, air pollution, water quality and homelessness. They learnt about the design process virtually, alongside other peers from Corowa Public School, Corowa South Public School, Rand Public School and Mulwala Public School. This culminated on Wednesday 5th November at Corowa Public School when all the students came together to present their solutions and participate in other STEM and problem-solving tasks. All of the students represented themselves and our school with pride. All the presentations were judged by a specialist STEM teacher from Corowa High School and our own Director of Education, Mr. Gray.
We were lucky enough to have our own Logan Allport come in third place for his solution to displaced peoples in war by providing ready-equipped shipping container houses. It was a fantastic learning experience for all our students.
Stage 1 Excursion to Wirraminna
our Stage One students enjoyed an exciting day at the Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre. Students had the opportunity to explore the native gardens, search for native birds, make their own corroboree frog and create an artwork based on native plants and animals. It was a fantastic day!

A big thank you to Wendy and Janice for generously volunteering their time to help our students create cards. Your kindness and support made this activity extra special for everyone involved. The students are already excited for your next visit, when they’ll be making Christmas cards together.
"I've loved that the school has been able to offer a music program. It has given my child an opportunity to play an instrument that she wouldn't have done otherwise. The fact that it is during school hours has meant I don't have to juggle work and after school commitments. It's a great addition to the school.” — a parent of Howlong Public School
